Dems’ gun-blaming logic baffling
Never one to miss an opportunity to use tragedy to push his political agenda, while in Dallas Obama used what was supposed to be a memorial to honor the police officers murdered in cold blood by an African-American man who said he “wanted to kill white people, especially white officers” to again push his “blame the gun not the shooter” logic.
He said, “As a society, we choose to under-invest in decent schools. We allow poverty to fester so that entire neighborhoods offer no prospect for gainful employment. We refuse to fund drug treatment and mental-health programs. We flood communities with so many guns that it is easier for a teenager to buy a Glock than get his hands on a computer or even a book.”
Let’s break down that statement. The neighborhoods you refer to are obviously inner city areas commonly referred to as “ghettos.” Now let’s consider where these “ghettos” exist. In cities run by Republicans? No, we’re looking at places like Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, basically cities run by Democrats. Cities with really strict gun laws. Cities with laws that prohibited minors and criminals from legally purchasing guns.
Now, these same states have laws that say you must go through a set of background checks, fingerprinting and finally a 21-day waiting period to take ownership of said gun which you are legally prohibited from carrying on your person.
But, according to you, Barack Obama, these laws are useless to stop an inner city youth from illegally buying such a gun. Ergo, the strict gun laws you keep saying are so wonderful are, by your own words, completely ineffective and useless!
And when Obama says “we” flood neighborhoods with guns, who is this “we” he is referring to? Perhaps he is referring to the thousands and thousands of military-grade weapons he gave to Mexican drug cartels as part of the “Fast and Furious” operation. Or perhaps he is publicly admitting to supplying guns to the very street gangs who murder innocent African-Americans every day while the mainstream media is turning a blind eye or blaming the violence on “society.”
Of course, it’s easy for someone like Obama to lecture others about guns when he and his family are protected 24/7 by men with guns.

Help by joining fight
After reading the article regarding little fire ants (LFA) in your July 18 edition, I would encourage the public to work with agencies that offer assistance with invasive species. We have established populations of coqui frogs, coffee borer beetles and LFA. Everyone needs to join the “fight.”
Imagine the invasion into resort landscapes.
